Public Works Minister: Puncak Toll Road Project Will Continue Under Unsolicited KPBU
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo revealed that the Puncak toll road project will still proceed through the Government-Business Partnership scheme (KPBU) initiated by the private sector, or unsolicited. ‘If the Puncak toll will still proceed under KPBU, the unsolicited KPBU because we see the traffic flow is adequately sufficient to enter the unsolicited KPBU, but so far it seems to still be processed at the Directorate General of Infrastructure Financing (Ditjen Pembiayaan Infrastruktur),’ Dody said during a media gathering in Jakarta on Friday. He added that there is still something like a mini-competition, because there are several bidders at the Ditjen Pembiayaan Infrastruktur who have submitted a Pre-Feasibility Study (Pre-FS). They are assessing which is best for the nation. ‘In due course we will announce it; we are pushing to speed up the process of building the Puncak toll so that the congestion there, which can be said to be almost every day at present, can be resolved soon and the public will not be greatly disturbed by the extraordinary congestion on that route,’ Dody said. For information, Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo emphasised that the KPBU scheme is tangible evidence of private sector involvement in infrastructure development. He added that to meet the funding needs for infrastructure provision for the 2020-2024 period of Rp2,058 trillion, KPBU projects and task assignments have been able to contribute 21.4 percent or Rp440.4 trillion.
