Jakarta (ANTARA) - Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo has stated that the construction progress of Phase II of the ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ (People’s Schools) is proceeding well and according to plan.

“It is quite advanced; only 11 People’s Schools remain unfinished. For those 11, one could say they are still at a level below 90 per cent, whilst the others are already at 90 per cent plus,” Dody said in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He added that many of the People’s Schools that have been completed are now being utilised for school orientation programmes (MPLS).

“The proof is that many are now being used for school orientation programmes. We are making persuasive efforts to ensure that the relevant parties continue to work on and complete them on time,” he said.

Minister Dody Hanggodo confirmed that the construction of the People’s Schools is focused on accelerating completion and meeting quality standards so that the facilities can be used by the community.

Adequate educational infrastructure, according to Minister Dody, is an important prerequisite for producing a superior and competitive generation.

He said the Ministry of Public Works is ensuring that the People’s School educational facilities are built quickly, precisely, and with quality so they can be immediately utilised by the public.

One of the People’s Schools being used for the 2026/2027 Academic Year’s School Orientation Programme is the Integrated People’s School 1 in Jember Regency, East Java.

The Jember People’s School is built on a 7-hectare plot of land with an integrated educational area concept. Its facilities include classroom buildings from primary to upper secondary levels, student dormitories, teacher housing blocks, a multipurpose hall, a kitchen, and a canteen.

One of the standout facilities drawing attention is a sports field measuring 105 x 68 metres, which adheres to FIFA standards. Surrounding it is an international-standard jogging track with a rubber surface, designed to support students’ sporting activities.
