Banda Aceh (ANTARA) – The Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, stated that the Kutablang Bridge in Bireuen Regency, Aceh, which previously collapsed and was swept away by floods at the end of November 2025, will be rebuilt as two permanent or twin bridges.

“In Kutablang, there will be two bridges; the old one will remain, and a new, more permanent and stronger bridge will be added,” said Dody Hanggodo in Bireuen, Aceh, on Tuesday.

He made this statement while answering questions from the media regarding the progress of the construction of the permanent bridge, which was previously only a Bailey bridge following the Aceh floods at the end of November 2025.

He said that the Ministry of Public Works has now begun constructing permanent bridges at several locations, and some are targeted for completion this year, including the two bridges in Bireuen.

The two bridges currently under construction in Bireuen are the Kutablang Bridge, which connects the Banda Aceh-Medan national road, and the Teupin Mane Bridge, which connects Bireuen to the central Aceh region.

“Regarding the permanent bridges, the target is to complete them this year. Here (in Bireuen), there are two bridges, while in other locations, the progress is around 45–50 percent,” he said.

Dody said that the construction of the permanent bridges had begun in January 2026, and some were even built while Aceh was still in a state of emergency.

“The work has been accelerated because it started several weeks ago, even when the situation was still an emergency. The main point is that the bridge, which was previously temporary, is being rebuilt permanently,” he said.
