Public Works Minister inspects People's School construction in Singkawang
Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo inspected the progress of the People’s School construction in Sagatani Village, South Singkawang District, West Kalimantan, as part of the central government’s priority education facility acceleration programme.
During the working visit, the Minister was accompanied by Singkawang Mayor Tjhai Chui Mie, Deputy Mayor Muhammadin, and relevant officials to observe on-site development progress.
Dody Hanggodo stated that the construction of the People’s School faces several challenges, particularly weather conditions and the geographical terrain of the project site in a hilly area.
“We are working hard to complete this. Hopefully it doesn’t rain so workers can work safely,” he said in Singkawang on Friday.
He emphasised that worker safety is the top priority during construction due to the challenging terrain.
He added that all development progress and on-site obstacles would be reported to the President of the Republic of Indonesia to receive guidance and solutions for accelerating the project.
“I will report everything and communicate with the top officials in Jakarta,” he said.
Meanwhile, Singkawang Mayor Tjhai Chui Mie stated that the Singkawang City Government is committed to fully supporting the People’s School construction to meet the central government’s target.
“We from the Singkawang City Government are ready to monitor the development of the People’s School directly to ensure it is completed according to the central government’s target,” she said.
She also assured the local government is prepared to assist in overcoming challenges during construction within its authority.
“According to what the Minister said, we from the Singkawang City Government are ready to help with any obstacles or shortcomings as full support for the President’s programme,” she said.
The construction of the People’s School in Singkawang is part of the government’s programme to expand education access and improve school infrastructure quality for the community.
