Tuban, East Java – The Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo has ensured the readiness of national roads in East Java in support of the 2026 Lebaran exodus.

“We must ensure national roads in East Java are in safe and comfortable condition for the public, especially motorcycle riders,” stated Dody in Tuban, East Java on Sunday (1 March).

The Public Works Minister inspected the readiness of the national road network in East Java Province to ensure the smooth and safe flow of traffic during the 2026 Lebaran exodus.

Various acceleration measures for road repairs and reinforcement have been implemented to anticipate potential traffic disruptions during the peak period of public movement.

To date, 13,306 potholes have been addressed out of a total of 14,132 recorded sites, with 826 sites remaining under completion.

Road marking work is also being accelerated to improve the safety and comfort of road users ahead of the exodus. The Public Works Ministry, through the Grand Implementation Centre for National Roads (BBPJN) East Java–Bali, has also identified several congestion and accident-prone points, including the road section bordering Bangkalan City and Sampang Regency as well as the Alas Baluran area in Banyuwangi.

Several locations vulnerable to flooding and landslides have also received attention, including the Ngoro–Mojosari section, Ploso–Pacitan–Hadiwarno, Bangil–Pasuruan, and the boundary section between Malang Regency and Lumajang City, including the Turen segment from Km 54+500 to Km 60+150. Personnel and equipment have been placed on standby to ensure rapid response should disruptions occur due to extreme weather.

The BBPJN East Java–Bali has also established Lebaran command posts across various regional units in East Java as centres for monitoring and integrated coordination.

With infrastructure readiness, personnel, and equipment in place, the Public Works Ministry ensures that connectivity and travel safety for the public during the Lebaran period remain maintained.
