Semarang – Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo has assured the readiness of national road infrastructure in Central Java Province to be more user-friendly for holiday travellers to support the smooth and safe flow of Eid 2026 homecoming traffic.

Dody emphasised that primary attention is being given to national roads that carry the bulk of public mobility, especially for two-wheeled vehicles.

“We all understand that during the homecoming and return journey periods, around 70 per cent of the public with four-wheeled vehicles prefer to use toll roads. Meanwhile, national roads will be filled predominantly with two-wheeled vehicles,” Dody stated whilst inspecting the Kaligawe section in Semarang, Central Java, on Sunday.

For this reason, Dody said he has instructed the Central Java-DIY National Road Implementation Agency (BBPJN) to focus more on how national roads become more user-friendly for riders.

This readiness, according to him, encompasses improving the quality of national roads and controlling flooding to maintain transportation connectivity during the peak period of population movement.

To ensure the stability of national roads, BBPJN Central Java–DIY Yogyakarta is accelerating preservation works, pothole repairs, resurfacing (overlay), and pavement strengthening on several strategic sections.

On the northern coast corridor such as Kaligawe and Trengguli, road elevation works, replacement of foundation layers, and high-quality concrete pavement are being accelerated with a target for all functional segments to be completed no later than ten days before Eid 2026.

Beyond road structure improvements, he stated that drainage system cleaning and repairs, shoulder reinforcement and road fixtures, as well as road marking and signage installation are being conducted intensively to enhance road user safety.

Traffic management is also being conducted in coordination with the police to maintain optimal road capacity whilst work continues.
