Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo has spotlighted the existence of “dirty broom bristle” practices within his ministry, linking them to the deep state phenomenon. This statement came after he uncovered several irregularities in a draft internal audit report he received.

Dody explained that he initially received only a brief presentation version of the draft. However, the content raised suspicions, prompting him to request the full report for closer examination. Upon reviewing the complete document, he found many points unsupported by strong evidence.

“Yes, the initial draft I received was in photo form. Just two or three pages. But I felt uncomfortable reading that PowerPoint. There was something that piqued my curiosity,” Dody said.

According to him, the irregularities were not only in the substance but also in the audit’s direction, which he deemed to deviate from the original objective. He revealed that the audit, which should have targeted two directors-general, was instead directed at him as the minister.

“Yes, there are many oddities. Personally, I think there are many oddities. So, almost everything discussed from the start lacks evidence,” he said.

Dody then connected this situation to the deep state phenomenon previously mentioned by President Prabowo Subianto. He even described himself as a direct victim of such practices.

“Well, this is actually what Pak Prabowo keeps mentioning, the deep state. I’m hit by the deep state,” he revealed.

Further, Dody assessed that the internal conditions of his ministry are not yet fully clean. He used the analogy of “dirty broom bristles” to depict the lingering elements suspected of attempting to sabotage the system from within.

“The problem is, my broom isn’t 100 percent clean. The bristles are still dirty. And after these dirty bristles try to block me, that’s it,” he said.

He described such practices as a major challenge in efforts to reform the bureaucracy at the Public Works Ministry. In his view, the deep state phenomenon is not only real but also potentially disruptive to government stability and the effectiveness of public policy.

“To be honest, ladies and gentlemen, I’m just confirming what Pak Prabowo Subianto said is absolutely true. The deep state exists in all governments, especially in Public Works,” he stated.
