Public Works Minister: Disciplinary Sanctions Imposed on Employees Linked to Online Gambling

The Minister of Public Works (PU), Dody Hanggodo, has revealed that disciplinary sanctions are being imposed on employees suspected of involvement in online gambling.

“If violations are proven, the sanctions must be carried out. If criminal elements are found, the legal process must proceed. Nothing should be covered up, nor should anyone be punished without sufficient grounds. The Ministry of Public Works manages work and state budgets of very large amounts. Therefore, I demand that those within the ministry possess discipline and integrity commensurate with such responsibilities,” Dody stated in Jakarta on Thursday.

He has instructed the Inspectorate General of the Ministry of Public Works to immediately follow up on findings from the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATTK) regarding transaction data of Ministry of Public Works employees suspected of online gambling. This must be done through a serious examination process, adhering strictly to evidence and applicable regulations.

Dody emphasised that handling online gambling within the Ministry of Public Works is part of an effort to maintain public trust in the civil service and the Ministry as an institution.

The data is currently being reviewed and verified to determine the position of each employee, transaction patterns, the level of involvement, and the specific elements of proven violations.

Following the Minister’s directive, the Inspector General of the Ministry of Public Works, Maulidya Indah Junica, explained that her office has conducted examinations on every individual named in the findings. Based on the review and verification conducted, not all cases fall into the same category.
