PT Hutama Karya (Persero) is accelerating permanent repair efforts at a landslide-affected section of the national road on the Tarutung-Sibolga route in North Sumatra to maintain reliable access for the public ahead of the 2026 Eid holiday exodus. This effort has received direct attention from Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo, who inspected work progress in Lobu Pining village, Adian Koting district, on Sunday, 8 March.

The inspection focused on repairs to the road surface affected by landslides, which are being remedied through construction of retaining walls (DPT) with borepile reinforcement systems at STA 16+350 and STA 16+550, executed by PT Hutama Karya (Persero).

During his visit, the Public Works Minister was accompanied by Hutama Karya’s Director of Operations I, Gunadi; Senior Vice President Akhyaarul Umam; and senior officials from the National Road Implementation Office (BBPJN) for North Sumatra.

Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo confirmed that the Medan-Sibolga transit route is currently in operational readiness. “During our inspection along the entire road from Medan, conditions are good. In terms of road readiness, I personally believe it is excellent. I am confident it is ready to handle the exodus during the H-7 to H+7 period,” stated Dody Hanggodo.

Regarding disaster mitigation, the Public Works Minister added that field teams are on high alert for rapid response. “As soon as a landslide occurs, we immediately clear it so the public’s mobility is not disrupted for an extended period,” he said.

On a separate occasion, Hamdani, Acting Executive Vice President and Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya, explained that the company’s involvement in managing the landslide-prone location represents its responsibility as a strategic government partner.

“Hutama Karya has been supporting the government since the initial stages of post-disaster reconstruction in late last year. Our consistent presence at the site represents a genuine commitment to restoring national connectivity. Through this permanent remediation, we hope the impact will be directly felt by the public so that this year’s exodus remains safe, smooth, and productive,” he explained.

Hutama Karya continues to ensure that construction quality and safety standards remain prioritised in the field, whilst also positioning personnel along vulnerable sections to anticipate weather-related challenges during the upcoming holiday period.
