Public Works Minister: Community-Based Infrastructure Budget Needs for 2027 Reach IDR 6.32 Trillion

Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo has revealed that the total budget requirement for the ministry’s community-based infrastructure (IBM) programme for the 2027 fiscal year amounts to IDR 6.32 trillion. The ministry is giving special attention to IBM as its impact is the most immediate and directly utilised by communities, both physically and economically. The proposed funding is intended for approximately 16,026 locations. Speaking at a working meeting with Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in Jakarta on Thursday, Dody stated that the ministry is continuing to consolidate and refine the programme to ensure support for IBM is maintained and its benefits are sustainable. However, under the indicative budget ceiling for the 2027 fiscal year, set at IDR 98.47 trillion, the available allocation is currently only IDR 1.65 trillion for 4,127 locations. With this condition, the IBM programme would only cover a portion of the proposed sites, consisting of 2,000 locations under the Accelerated Programme for Improved Water Use Management in Irrigation (P3-TGAI) and 2,127 locations or activity units under the Directorate General of Human Settlements (Cipta Karya). The funding shortfall means additional proposals remain unfunded, including P3-TGAI projects at 10,000 locations, the construction of 160 suspension bridge units, and 1,739 Cipta Karya activities. Dody emphasised that support for community-based infrastructure is an investment whose benefits are felt directly by the community. He detailed that P3-TGAI supports agricultural productivity, while the Community-Based Drinking Water and Sanitation Provision programme (Pamsimas) supplies village drinking water access, and the Community-Based Sanitation programme (Sanimas) and Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Waste Processing Sites (TPS 3R) improve environmental health. He therefore appealed for full support from the leadership and members of Commission V of the DPR RI so that all proposed community-based infrastructure locations for the 2027 fiscal year can be optimised to ensure the sustainability of benefits for the community.
