Public Works Minister accelerates implementation of President's priority programmes
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Public Works (PU), Dody Hanggodo, is accelerating the implementation of the President of the Republic of Indonesia’s priority programmes. He stated that the acceleration of these priority programmes will be the primary focus of the Ministry of Public Works in 2026, while ensuring that every programme is executed with the correct quality, on time, targeted according to contracts, and with orderly accountability.
“We are continuing to closely monitor the acceleration of these priority programmes regarding implementation readiness, field obstacles, and schedule accuracy, particularly for road access, flood control, public schools, and irrigation networks,” Dody said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The Ministry of Public Works has noted significant progress in the implementation of various Presidential priority programmes for the 2026 Fiscal Year. As of the end of May 2026, the construction of public schools, the revitalisation of madrasahs, the management of regional roads and irrigation, and various other strategic infrastructure programmes continue to show positive progress alongside accelerated field implementation.
According to Dody, regarding the Public School programme, the Ministry of Public Works recorded that the physical construction progress of 93 school units has reached 67.50 per cent, with financial progress at 44.33 per cent. Meanwhile, the revitalisation programme for 856 madrasahs has reached 41.88 per cent physical progress and 33.22 per cent financial progress.
To support regional connectivity and productivity, the regional road management programme—consisting of the construction and improvement of 408.57 km of roads and the construction of 375.88 m of bridges—has reached 75.10 per cent physical progress and 59.49 per cent financial progress.
Furthermore, the regional irrigation management programme, which targets 19,760 hectares of irrigation networks to strengthen national food security, has shown a physical progress of 82.73 per cent and financial progress of 38.36 per cent.
The Ministry of Public Works is also continuing to push the implementation of the National Food, Energy, and Water Self-Sufficiency Area (KSPEAN) Wanam programme in South Papua, which as of the end of May 202ability 26, recorded physical progress of 12.67 per cent and financial progress of 2.63 per cent. This development includes the opening of 138.5 km of road access, flood control for 7,503 hectares, and the development of 4,870 hectares.
