Public Works Minister: 30 Per Cent Toll Tariff Discount Begins 9 Days Before Eid

Semarang, Central Java — Indonesia’s Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo has announced that a 30 per cent toll tariff discount will commence nine days before Eid 2026.

“It’s 8 or 9 days before Eid, if I recall correctly,” Dody said whilst visiting Semarang, Central Java.

According to him, the toll tariff discount applies to all toll road sections, mirroring the approach taken during the 2025 Eid period. “All sections. The same as last year, exactly the same. The only difference is that last year the toll discount was 20 per cent, whereas now it is 30 per cent,” he explained.

Dody stated that the toll tariff discount aims to ease traffic congestion ahead of the peak Eid homecoming period. “Through this measure, we hope that travellers can depart earlier, and similarly, they can also return home earlier,” Dody said.

Previously, the government allocated IDR 12.83 trillion for a first-quarter 2026 economic stimulus package that includes discounts on transportation tickets, toll tariff reductions, and social assistance programmes.

The stimulus will be provided during the February-March 2026 period.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that from the total budget allocation, IDR 200 billion has been earmarked for transportation discounts, whilst social assistance reaches approximately IDR 12 trillion.
