Public Works Directorate General targets 94.6 per cent stability for national roads by 2027
The Ministry of Public Works, through the Directorate General of Bina Marga, is targeting the stability of national roads to reach 94.67 per cent by the end of next year.
“It is targeted that by the end of 2027, the stability of national roads is predicted to reach 94.67 per cent,” stated the Director General of Bina Marga, Roy Rizali Anwar, during a Hearing Session with Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in Jakarta on Tuesday.
According to Roy, regarding the preservation of national roads, the stability condition in 2025 is projected at 93.50 per cent, with survey results for the first semester of 2026 predicted at 93.39 per cent.
“In the 2027 budget ceiling, the allocation for routine maintenance will increase to IDR 3.66 trillion, supplemented by effective road preservation of IDR 1.52 trillion. This is expected to meet the maintenance needs for the entire national road network spanning 47,603 km and all national bridges totalling 565,000 metres throughout 2027,” he said.
According to Dody, stable road conditions can accelerate vehicle travel times, reduce logistics costs, lower commodity prices, and facilitate public activities.
The Ministry of Public Works continues to implement efforts for the maintenance and enhancement of national road connectivity throughout Indonesia.
The preservation of roads and bridges is a form of the Ministry of Public Works’ responsibility to ensure that built infrastructure remains in stable condition and provides benefits to the community.
The labour-intensive programmes implemented on national road segments also involve local communities to boost the economy while strengthening a sense of ownership towards the infrastructure built by the government.
In addition to maintaining road stability, the Ministry of Public Works also ensures that supporting infrastructure, such as bridges and drainage systems, functions well so that road users feel safe and comfortable.
