Public Works Agency Ensures Rasuna Said Road Is Ready to Host CFD in June
The South Jakarta Public Works and Highways Sub-Department has confirmed that the road surface along Jalan HR Rasuna Said in Setiabudi is suitable to host Car Free Day (CFD) on 1 June 2026. The head of the South Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-Department, Rifki Rismal, said this assurance followed an evaluation of the previous CFD implementation, during which residents reported standing water and a newly laid asphalt surface that was deemed uncomfortable for pedestrians. ‘Overall, the public appreciates the Rasuna Said CFD, but these issues must be addressed properly,’ he said, quoted in an official statement on Wednesday, 19 May 2026. Rifki also noted that organising the Rasuna Said area, especially around Epicentrum, is challenging because works to improve water flow are being carried out by the DKI Jakarta Water Resources Agency at the site. ‘In essence, regarding the date 1 June, we are making efforts so that the road surface is ready for CFD. However, it may not be finished in full, and we are pushing as hard as possible,’ he added. He stated that the eastern side of Jalan HR Rasuna Said being developed under the complete street concept aims to make the road a shared space that is inclusive. Jalan HR Rasuna Said is indeed one of the main and strategic corridors in South Jakarta. ‘We apologise if there are still inconveniences in the area. Hopefully what we are doing and targeting can be carried out well,’ he concluded.
