Public Urged to Entrust Homes and Vehicles to Police During Eid Exodus
JAKARTA – The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has urged citizens planning to undertake the Eid exodus to prepare security measures for their homes and vehicles left unattended during their travels.
The appeal was made by Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, head of the Police Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) within Polri’s communications division, during a distribution of evening meals with journalists near National Police Headquarters in South Jakarta on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
According to Trunoyudo, citizens can report their travel plans to local community administrators, such as ward (RT) or village (RW) heads, and to local security personnel. “We urge all citizens to ensure that the neighbourhoods they are leaving are informed through their ward heads, village chiefs, community leaders who remain in the area, or neighbourhood security units. Specifically, there are police-community liaison officers (Bhabinkamtibmas) from Polri,” Trunoyudo said, speaking to reporters on Trunojoyo Street in Jakarta on Tuesday.
“There is also the option of leaving vehicles and goods with the local police precinct (Polsek) or police offices. Please take advantage of this service,” he added.
Trunoyudo also reminded citizens to follow verified official information from news media regarding traffic conditions during the exodus period to obtain accurate information about travel conditions.
According to him, citizens should prioritise safety during the exodus journey rather than speed of arrival at their destination. “The most important thing during the exodus is arriving safely at your destination, not speed,” Trunoyudo said.
“This applies during Ramadhan, the Eid exodus, and of course, when returning home,” he concluded.
