Public Trust in Police Rises, Calls for Continued Reform

The Chairman of the Keluarga Besar Putra Putri (KBPP) Polri for the 2026–2031 period, AH. Bimo Suryono, stated that the rising public trust in the Indonesian National Police (Polri) must serve as motivation to continuously strengthen professionalism and public service. According to him, the reform efforts undertaken by Polri are beginning to receive public appreciation, and it is hoped that the institution will continue to improve its professionalism in serving the community. “The people’s trust is the highest honour for the Polri institution. The results of the Kompas Research and Development survey are not just statistical figures, but a reflection of the public’s hope that Polri will continue to enhance its professionalism, integrity, and service quality,” Bimo said on Tuesday, 7 July 2026. The Kompas survey, conducted from 9 to 18 April 2026 with 1,200 respondents across 38 provinces, showed that 71.5% of the public had a positive perception of Polri’s performance, with public satisfaction rising to 67.6%. Bimo cautioned that this increase should not lead to complacency but must instead be a reminder to sustain institutional reform. He also highlighted the dedication of officers, specifically mourning the loss of three personnel—Aiptu Yudhie Perdana Putra, Aiptu Sumaryanto, and Bripda Nopandri Ramadhana—who were killed during a drug eradication operation in Katingan Regency, Central Kalimantan. “Behind the increase in public trust lies extraordinary dedication from Bhayangkara members. Some have even sacrificed their lives to eradicate crime and protect the people. It is this dedication that truly builds public trust in Polri,” he asserted, extending his condolences to the families and urging the state to honour their service and sacrifice.
