Public Trust in Police Reaches 82.4%, Sahroni Credits General Sigit's Hard Work

Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Commission III, Ahmad Sahroni, has responded to the increased level of public trust and satisfaction in the National Police’s performance, as indicated by a Kompas Litbang survey. Sahroni assessed that the result is the fruit of the police force’s hard work under the leadership of General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. “The high level of public trust shows that the police’s hard work is genuinely felt by the community. This is the fruit of the National Police’s hard work under the leadership of General Sigit,” Sahroni told reporters on Friday (26/6/2026). Sahroni urged the police not to become complacent with the positive results. He hopes the force’s performance can be continuously improved. “Going forward, do not be complacent and continue to maintain this good performance. In the future, it must be even better; this achievement should serve as motivation to continue improving service quality, professionalism, and closeness with the community,” he said. The NasDem Party legislator reminded the police that there is still much work to be done. He believes that if the police continue to protect and prioritise the interests of the public, trust could reach 100 percent. “Remember, there is still a lot of homework to be completed. Street crime, thuggery, drug trafficking, and digital-based crime must be consistently eradicated. Most importantly, the police must continue to be present as protectors, guardians, and servants of the community. If this is maintained, I am sure 100 percent public trust will skyrocket,” he said. The Kompas Litbang survey was conducted from 9 to 18 April 2026. The method involved face-to-face interviews with 1,200 respondents. Sampling was carried out randomly using a multistage systematic sampling method across 38 provinces. The survey has a margin of error of 2.83 percent with a 95 percent confidence level. Respondents were asked: In general, are you confident or not confident that the National Police’s performance will improve in the future? The results showed 82.4 percent of respondents answered confident, 12.1 percent answered not confident, and 5.5 percent answered they did not know. The Kompas Litbang survey results indicate public trust in the National Police has risen to 82.4 percent, with the public confident that the institution can improve in the future.
