Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, revealed the number of passengers using public transport during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return flows for 1447 H or 2026. Dudy stated that passenger movements on public transport during Eid 2026 reached 23.73 million, an increase of 11.79% from Eid 2025, which was 21.23 million.

“The total realisation of public transport passengers during Eid 2026 reached 23.73 million people, experiencing an increase of 11.79% compared to 2025,” said Dudy during a working meeting (raker) with Commission V of the DPR RI on Monday (13/4/2026).

In more detail, Dudy explained that all public transport modes experienced increases, with ferry services recording the highest rise of 17.05% to 5.6 million people, up from 4.8 million in Eid 2025.

Next, travel services also saw a significant increase of 14.95% to 257,219 people during Eid 2026.

“Growth in the number of public transport passengers occurred across all transport modes, with the highest increases including ferry services up 17.05%, road transport (travel) up 14.95%, and intercity rail transport up 13.14%,” explained Dudy.

Previously, Dudy explained that the number of people travelling home during Eid 2026 reached 147.55 million, an increase of 2.53% from the Ministry of Transportation’s survey of 143.92 million. This figure also rose from Eid 2025, which reached 146.48 million people.

“Based on survey results, public movements were projected at 143.92 million people. Meanwhile, the realisation of movements based on mobile positioning data (MPD) reached 147.55 million people, or an increase of 2.53%. This data shows that public mobility during the 2026 Eid transport period was higher than the projected figure,” he clarified.
