Public Transport and Tourist Sites Free for Three Days During Jakarta's Anniversary, Open to All Indonesians

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has confirmed that the free public transport and tourist site programme for Jakarta’s 499th anniversary will not only apply to holders of DKI Jakarta identity cards. The policy is open to all Indonesian citizens who wish to celebrate the capital’s anniversary.

“After receiving input from many parties, especially those who want to take advantage of this momentum from outside Jakarta, it will not only apply to Jakarta ID card holders, but to holders of Republic of Indonesia ID cards,” Pramono said in the Monas area on Sunday (21/6).

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has set the free services for 22, 27, and 28 June 2026. On these dates, the public can use public transport modes such as TransJakarta, MRT Jakarta, and LRT Jakarta free of charge.

In addition to transport, entry tickets to a number of tourist destinations and public facilities managed by the regional government are also free, including Ancol, Ragunan Zoo, the National Monument (Monas), museums owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, and various sports facilities.

“Hopefully this will bring benefits to the community and they will especially feel a sense of ownership of Jakarta,” Pramono said.

Jakarta officially turns 499 years old on Monday (22/6). Various activities, from entertainment and free transport services to free access to tourist attractions, have been prepared by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to enliven the capital’s anniversary celebration.
