The government has opened public participation for the selection of the logo for the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. Following a directive from President Prabowo Subianto, this year marks the first time the public has been involved in choosing the logo.

“This year is a new milestone in determining the HUT RI logo for the first time. At the direction of the President, the public is actively involved in determining the logo through a public polling mechanism,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Wednesday (24/6/2026).

Riefky revealed that 124 participants took part in the logo competition. In collaboration with the Indonesian Graphic Designers Association (ADGI), five of the best designs were selected for a public vote. He assured that the curation process was conducted professionally.

“In this process, the Ministry of Creative Economy played a role in encouraging the participation of national creative talents and ensuring the curation process was carried out professionally, resulting in the selection of the five best finalists. ADGI, as a strategic partner, helped maintain design quality standards, narrative strength, and the visual relevance of each work produced,” he stated.

The official logo for the 81st Independence Day will be chosen based on the results of a public poll. The polling is open from 24 to 28 June 2026 via the website logohutri.istanapresiden.go.id. Riefky encouraged the public to participate, saying, “This public involvement is important as a space for national participation which, God willing, will build a sense of ownership, so that the chosen logo truly becomes a symbol of pride for all Indonesian people.”

Wamensetneg Juri Ardiantoro announced that the theme for the 81st Independence Day commemoration is ‘Indonesia Berdaulat, Adil, dan Makmur’ (Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia). He noted that President Prabowo wanted the people to be directly involved in choosing the logo so that the celebration of independence is truly felt by the public. “The President’s direction is that the festivity of the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence also belongs to the people, to all Indonesian society,” Juri said.

Five finalist logo designs are available for public selection on the polling website, each with a distinct philosophy. The designs include ‘8 Harapan 1 Tujuan’ (8 Hopes 1 Goal) by David Wirawan from Surakarta, symbolising resilience and progress; ‘Kolektif, Sinergi, Bertumbuh’ (Collective, Synergy, Growing) by Fajar Novario from Padang, reflecting unity in diversity; ‘Kemanusiaan yang Terhubung’ (Connected Humanity) by Kanda Putra from Denpasar, inspired by the second principle of Pancasila; and ‘Berdaya, Setara, Sinergi Bersama’ (Empowered, Equal, Synergising Together) by Rizkiawan from Malang, built from three main lines representing the nation’s foundational principles.
