Public Solidarity Raises Rp2.16 Billion for NTT Disaster Victims
The 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia’s independence became a momentum to strengthen solidarity for communities affected by disasters in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Through the People’s Arts in Togetherness for Independence event, public enthusiasm was channelled into donations via QR codes at three performance stages. In a short time, donations totalling Rp2,164,037,334 were collected. The extended family of state-owned enterprises (BUMN) and Danantara Indonesia, together with the Government, facilitated public participation to attend and work together to help others.
“This year’s Independence momentum also serves as a reminder of the strength of mutual cooperation. Public participation in the People’s Arts in Togetherness for Independence can be translated into tangible support for our brothers and sisters affected by the disaster in NTT,” said Rohan Hafas, Managing Director of Stakeholder Management at Danantara Indonesia, in a written statement on Tuesday (18/8/2026).
As part of BUMN’s commitment to be present in the community during emergency situations, Danantara Indonesia is coordinating a cross-BUMN response to support the fulfilment of basic needs of affected communities in a targeted manner. Aid coordination in several regions has also been intensified during the emergency response period set by local governments until 28 August 2026.
In the early stages of the emergency response period, the main focus was directed at restoring public services that form the backbone of the humanitarian response. Several BUMNs moved quickly to deploy personnel and equipment to affected areas. As of Monday (17/8), PLN had restored approximately 88% of customers and 98.3% of the electricity network affected by the earthquake, allowing basic community services, public facilities, and aid posts to resume operations.
On the communications side, Telkom Group accelerated the restoration of telecommunications networks in several affected areas to ensure coordination and access to information could continue. In addition, fuel supply and distribution were also strengthened to facilitate community mobility and aid deployment.
Several BUMNs also distributed humanitarian aid in affected districts. The support collected was channelled to meet the urgent needs of communities at various affected points. Aid collection is still ongoing in line with the mapping of needs on the ground, so that the support provided can continue to be adjusted to the conditions of affected communities, ranging from food, clean water, medicines, and shelter equipment, to operational support for posts and public facilities.
To this end, volunteers will be deployed and disaster management posts will be strengthened at several priority points that serve as centres of activity for affected communities, such as in Sikka, Nagekeo, Ngada, Ende, and Manggarai Regencies. In addition to meeting emergency response needs, Danantara Indonesia together with BUMNs have also begun collecting data on houses that suffered severe damage to support the post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction phase through coordination with local governments and relevant stakeholders.
“The current focus is to ensure that the support collected can be distributed appropriately and in accordance with the most urgent needs on the ground. At the same time, Danantara Indonesia together with the extended BUMN family are also beginning to map the continued needs of affected communities, including possible support in the recovery phase and the repair of affected facilities or housing,” said Rohan.
Through strengthened coordination during the emergency response period, Danantara Indonesia together with the extended BUMN family are working to ensure that the support collected can be delivered in a precise, targeted, and beneficial manner for affected communities in East Nusa Tenggara.
