Jakarta (ANTARA) – Denny Ramdany, Secretary of the Central Jakarta Administrative City, has stressed that public service innovation should not merely involve digitisation or the launch of an app, but must be capable of solving problems and delivering tangible benefits to the public.

“In essence, innovation is our ability to find better ways to solve problems, simplify work processes and provide greater benefits to the public,” Denny said at the Central Jakarta Mayor’s Office on Tuesday.

He said public demands for services that are fast, accessible, transparent, accountable and responsive meant that civil servants must continue to adapt and make ongoing improvements.

Denny called on every work unit at city, sub-district and urban village level to map the specific problems in its area as a basis for developing innovations.

He said improvement priorities should reflect local needs, including handling public complaints, environmental management, area planning, community empowerment and improving administrative services.

Meanwhile, Eko Suroyo, head of personnel, governance and public services at the Central Jakarta Administrative City, said he hoped sub-district heads and urban village heads would take part in the 2027 Jakarta provincial regional innovation competition.

“All sub-district and urban village heads are expected to take part in the city-level regional innovation competition, with the aim of having candidates ready by 2027 to put forward for the DKI Jakarta provincial competition,” he said.
