Public School Student Aspires to Become Minister of Education
A student from the Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Pertama (SRMP) 17 Tabanan, Bali, named I Ketut Arlan, has expressed his desire to become the Minister of Education after studying at the Sekolah Rakyat, an initiative launched by President Prabowo Subianto.
“My ambition is to become the Minister of Education because I care about the younger generations. I want to educate and provide good things for future generations,” said Arlan during a dialogue with President Prabowo Subianto at SRMP 17 Tabanan, Bali, as reported by the BPMI of the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta on Sunday.
Arlan shared these aspirations when President Prabowo asked about his future goals after participating in the Sekolah Rakyat programme. Arlan stated that he wishes to contribute to the field of education to ensure that subsequent generations have equal learning opportunities through the Sekolah Rakyat programme.
During the visit, Arlan appeared before President Prabowo and delivered a message in English, expressing his gratitude for the support received through the programme.
“Thank you President Prabowo Subianto, thank you for giving us school, food, shelters, teachers and hope. Thank you for Indonesia’s future belonging to every child,” said Arlan.
President Prabowo responded to the statement by presenting a pin to Arlan as a form of appreciation for his performance.
In addition to sharing his ambitions, Arlan recalled the message delivered by President Prabowo to the students, encouraging them to continue striving towards their goals.
“I must be even more enthusiastic to achieve my dreams. I must not give up, no matter what obstacles arise,” said Arlan.
President Prabowo’s visit to SRMP 17 Tabanan is part of an agenda to review the implementation of the Sekolah Rakyat programme, which aims to expand educational access for children from families in need of educational and residential support.
