Public Satisfaction with Indonesian Police Rises to 67.6% in Kompas Survey
Public satisfaction with the services of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) has risen to 67.6 per cent, based on the results of a Kompas Research and Development survey. The previous year, the satisfaction level stood at 65.1 per cent. This figure is based on the Kompas Research and Development survey conducted from 9 to 18 April 2026. The method involved face-to-face interviews with 1,200 respondents. Sampling was carried out randomly using a multistage systematic sampling method across 38 provinces. The margin of error is 2.83 per cent with a 95 per cent confidence level. Furthermore, the institutional image of Polri also rose significantly to 71.5 per cent from the previous year’s percentage of 64.4 per cent. According to the Kompas Research and Development Survey, this increase in Polri’s positive image is linked to the extensive involvement of police officers as the frontline apparatus of the state’s security forces in the field. Kompas Research and Development also asked respondents who had interacted with Polri for their assessment. The results showed that the score for Polri’s professionalism performance increased from the previous 7.76 per cent to 8.37 per cent. This assessment of Polri’s service professionalism was derived from the average index of 20 aspects from respondents who had interacted with the police, such as in document processing. Additionally, 80 per cent of respondents stated that service facilities at police stations are now comfortable. This significant increase in trust places Polri among the top five most trusted state institutions by the public. In fact, according to the Kompas Research and Development survey, the level of trust in Polri is acknowledged by the public to be relatively higher than that of other law enforcement agencies such as the Attorney General’s Office, the Supreme Court, and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
