Public park for vendors?

From Kompas

A public park in Pancoran Glodok, West Jakarta, has now become
a hub for vendors and has turned into a shabby slum that disturbs
the comfort and security of local residents.

This situation has lasted for quite a while, yet no action has
been taken by the city administration. The question arises as to
whether the Jakarta Administration is no longer responsive to
such developments, or if certain officials have allowed the
misuse of a public facility for personal or group gains.

Jakarta and its residents should strive to make the capital a
neat, comfortable and secure place in an attempt to attract
domestic and foreign tourists.

In this light, Jakarta authorities who still hold an interest
in developing the city into a major tourist destination should
clarify the actual status and designated function of the public
park, so as to encourage the progress of this metropolis.
