Public Minibus Catches Fire on Sudirman Street, Bogor, Suspected Battery Short-Circuit
One unit of the public transport minibus (angkot) on the Salabenda-Pasar Anyar route caught fire, according to M Ade Nugraha, Head of Fire Suppression and Rescue at Bogor City Fire Department, on Thursday (21 May 2026). The fire occurred as the angkot was about to move after dropping off passengers near Bogor City Recreational Park. A popping sound was heard from the battery storage under the seat, and on inspection the vehicle’s battery was burning. “The initial cause of the fire, according to the reporter, started from the battery, then spread to the seat and the fire grew. For the source of the fire or cause (namely) the car battery burning. Yes, likely a short circuit,” Ade said. He added that three fire units attended the scene: one from Mako Sukasari, one from Cibuluh and one from another station. On arrival, officers immediately began extinguishing. The fire damaged only the front and middle of the angkot. “There were no casualties. The angkot had no passengers at the time. Material losses were approximately Rp 45 million,” he added.
