Public Hospital Cipto Mangunkusumo is the largest and best
equipped hospital in Indonesia. The hospital also functions as a
training ground for medical students from the University of
Indonesia, Jakarta.

However, the physical condition and services of the hospital
are, regrettably, distressing. For instance, the buildings, built
by government funds and foreign aid, are poorly maintained. The
hospital management should in fact be concerned with the
cleanliness of the vicinity. The ceiling of the emergency
installation is covered with mildew, and the chairs in the
waiting room are no longer suitable for such a well-known
hospital in the capital city.

Cleanliness levels are below standard. Trash and litter thrown
away by visitors is scattered everywhere. The services of the
medical staff are poor. They put greater emphasis on the
financial aspect rather than giving quick treatment to needy
patients.

It is time management took the necessary steps to improve the
condition of this supposedly prestigious hospital.
