Family planning services for the Female Surgical Method (MOW) and Male Surgical Method (MOP) in Majalengka Regency were met with great enthusiasm. The initiative, held in commemoration of the 33rd National Family Day (Harganas) at the KIAS Clinic of the 0617/Majalengka Military District Command, saw participant numbers far exceed initial calculations.

Head of the Majalengka Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, and Family Planning Agency (DP3AKB), Gun Gun Mochamad Dharmadi, explained that the activity was a collaboration with the West Java BKKBN. He stated that the initial target for the MOW and MOP services was set at 250 people. However, participation surged to over 300 people.

In detail, a significant increase occurred among female participants undergoing MOW, with numbers exceeding the target by more than 230 people. Equally encouraging news came from male participation, with MOP participants surpassing the initial quota by 26 people.

Majalengka Regent Eman Suherman expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the extraordinary public enthusiasm. “We were initially a little pessimistic that public participation in MOW would be low. But it turned out to be extraordinary, it was overwhelming. In fact, our quota was overloaded. And what’s even greater is that besides MOW, it turns out many men also participated in MOP,” he said.

Eman revealed that the family planning programme has undergone a positive paradigm shift within the community. Whereas in the past family planning seemed forced or requested by the government, now public awareness has grown independently. The positive impact of this high participation is felt in population control. Currently, the population growth rate in Majalengka Regency has been successfully suppressed and remains below one percent, specifically at 0.77 percent.
