Public Acknowledges Benefits of Several Free Homecoming Programmes for 2026

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Several residents have stated that they are assisted by various free homecoming (mudik) programmes for Eid 2026 organised by the government and other institutions. These programmes are seen as easing the burden of travel expenses while facilitating access to returning home. One participant, Tini (48), when met at Pulo Gebang Terminal on Thursday, admitted to directly experiencing the benefits of the free homecoming programme organised by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. She, along with her child, joined the programme to return to Banjarnegara, Central Java, departing from Pulo Gebang Terminal, East Jakarta. “Very helpful. Previously, I rarely went home for mudik, but with this programme, I can go home,” she said. She also recounted that the return journey to Jakarta took about eight hours and was observed to be quite congested. Tabrani (31), a participant from Lubuklinggau, South Sumatra, who joined the free homecoming programme facilitated by one of the DPR RI factions, expressed a similar sentiment.
