Puan Urges UN to Take Action on US-Iran Conflict

Jakarta – The Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Puan Maharani, has urged the United Nations (UN) to take immediate steps to address the conflict between the United States (US), Israel, and Iran.

Puan believes the UN needs to act to ensure the protection of civilians and maintain respect for international law.

This statement was made by Puan during the Plenary Session Opening of the 2025/2026 Fourth Parliamentary Term at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

“The DPR RI urges the United Nations to assume its role and take immediate action in upholding respect for international law, protecting civilians, and maintaining shared commitment to global peace and stability,” Puan said in her speech.

On the other hand, Puan also called on the Indonesian government to continue implementing an independent and active foreign policy whilst protecting national interests with wisdom.

“The Government of the Republic of Indonesia must continue to implement an independent and active foreign policy in protecting national interests wisely, consistently, and constructively in responding to evolving global geopolitical dynamics,” Puan concluded.
