Puan to Arrange Fried Rice Banquet for Prabowo and Megawati
President Prabowo Subianto and PDIP Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri are scheduled to hold a follow-up meeting. The question remains as to when this second encounter between the two figures will take place.
The two met recently when Prabowo visited Megawati’s residence on Jalan Teuku Umar, Central Jakarta, on Monday (28/09/2026). Prabowo visited to express his condolences following the passing of Megawati’s brother, Guruh Soekarnoputra.
Gerindra Daily Chairman Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and PDIP DPP Chairwoman Puan Maharani have confirmed that a follow-up meeting between Prabowo and Megawati is forthcoming. Dasco and Puan hinted that the timing of Prabowo’s recent visit was limited, necessitating a subsequent meeting.
“What was discussed yesterday was the fried rice that was never served because it was not yet dinner time,” Dasco said at the DPR building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (29/09/2026).
“Yes, the timing was awkward,” Puan added.
Dasco noted that the timing of the meeting between Prabowo and Megawati was insufficient, suggesting that a follow-up meeting could be arranged for another time.
“The timing was awkward. Therefore, another time will be arranged so we can all eat fried rice together,” Dasco said.
Dasco stated that the follow-up meeting between Prabowo and Megawati is currently being organised. Puan confirmed that the meeting will take place as soon as possible.
“It is being arranged by Mbak Puan,” said Dasco.
“As soon as possible,” Puan remarked.
PDIP Hopes for Follow-up Meeting on 17 October
PDIP DPP Chair Said Abdullah also confirmed that Prabowo and Megawati will meet again following the meeting at Teuku Umar. Said expressed hope that this meeting between the two figures could take place on 17 October 2026.
Said initially mentioned that the recent meeting between Prabowo and Megawati was brief, noting that Prabowo made time despite his busy schedule.
“Yesterday’s meeting lasted almost 40 minutes. It was brief because the President made time amidst his busy schedule; he went straight to Teuku Umar from a BPJS meeting and returned to a cabinet meeting immediately after leaving Teuku Umar,” Said told reporters at the DPR in Jakarta on Tuesday (29/09).
Said stated that a follow-up meeting will occur and expressed his hope that it could be held on 17 October, coinciding with President Prabowo’s birthday.
“Therefore, there will indeed be a follow-up meeting, God willing. Hopefully, that follow-up meeting can take place on 17 October, on our President’s birthday,” he said.
