Puan Showcases DPR Achievements: 28 Bills Passed into Law Since 2024

House Speaker Puan Maharani has highlighted the legislative achievements of the DPR and the government from the start of the 2024 sitting period through to the most recent session.

Puan explained that the DPR and the government had completed 28 bills, turning them into laws during that period.

“In carrying out the legislative function, the DPR together with the government, from the first sitting period of 2024 to the last, has completed 28 bills into laws,” Puan said during the DPR Plenary Session on Friday (14/8).

She detailed that the 28 laws originated from a number of commissions, the Legislation Body (Baleg), and special committees (pansus).

Commission I completed three laws, Commission II completed 10 laws, and Commission III completed three laws. Commission VI then completed two laws, Commission VII completed one law, Commission VIII completed one law, and Commission XI completed two laws.

Commission XIII then completed two laws. Baleg completed three laws and a special committee completed one law.

She also explained that in this sitting period, the DPR and the government would focus discussions on 14 bills at the first reading stage.

In addition, the DPR will continue with 43 bills currently in the drafting stage, including the Asset Forfeiture Bill.

“The quality of law-making is certainly not only measured by the number of laws produced, but by how much benefit the public can feel from the presence of these laws,” Puan said.
