Puan says Prabowo's speech mentioning PDIP was an invitation for unity

House Speaker Puan Maharani stated that President Prabowo Subianto’s speech, which mentioned the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) during the presentation of the government’s introduction and remarks on the 2027 State Budget Bill and its Financial Note, was an invitation to build solidarity. Puan acknowledged that the effort to develop the nation cannot be done alone. Despite existing differences, Prabowo conveyed that development must be undertaken together. “As long as it is for the nation and state, of course we must be united, together,” Puan said after the plenary session featuring the President’s delivery of the 2027 State Budget Bill at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Friday. Regarding the President’s statement that his approach is also ‘Marhaenism’, the PDIP Central Board Chair assessed that her party’s steps would be the same as long as they serve the people’s interests. Therefore, she said PDIP would work hand in hand and cooperate as long as the government’s policies are for the benefit of the nation and state. “Of course, PDIP will work hand in hand, cooperate together to support the government’s policies,” she said. Earlier, President Prabowo expressed gratitude to the House of Representatives for their cooperation and synergy with the government. He specifically thanked PDIP. “Actually, this is not Prabowonomics, this is Marhaenism. It would be difficult for PDIP not to support this,” Prabowo said during his introductory speech on the 2027 State Budget Bill and its Financial Note at the Parliament Building in Jakarta.
