Puan Requests Awards for Fallen TNI Soldiers in Lebanon
Jakarta – House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani stated that the state should award three Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) soldiers serving in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) who perished in Lebanon due to an Israeli attack.
Puan urged the government and TNI to provide due honours to the fallen soldiers, including ensuring their rights as humanitarian heroes are fulfilled.
“These three finest sons of Indonesia fell while carrying out their noble duty as guardians of world peace. It is only fitting that the state gives them the best possible recognition for their sacrifice,” Puan said in her statement, quoted on Wednesday, 1 April 2026.
“On behalf of the DPR RI and personally, I convey my deepest condolences over the passing of these three children of the nation who were carrying out humanitarian duties in Lebanon,” she added.
According to Puan, the sacrifice of the TNI soldiers in Lebanon serves as a reminder that Indonesia’s position on the international stage is built not only through political statements but also through the courage to stand on the front lines when the world faces conflict.
Therefore, according to Puan, the best tribute to the fallen soldiers is to ensure that their dedication strengthens national and international awareness.
“An awareness that world peace is not an agenda far removed from Indonesia’s interests, but part of a responsibility that always carries real consequences,” she said.
Puan hopes this incident will further increase awareness among all parties about the importance of steps and efforts to create peace, especially for parties still in conflict and embroiled in prolonged geopolitical strife.
“The war must be stopped immediately. How many more victims must fall for the power of certain parties. The United Nations must dare to act firmly,” she said.
It is known that the Head of the Information Centre (Kapuspen) of TNI Headquarters, Brigadier General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, revealed the identities of the two fallen TNI soldiers: Captain Inf Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Staff Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan. Then, the other two soldiers who were injured: First Lieutenant Inf Sulthan Wirdean Maulana and Private First Class Deni Rianto.
“The incident occurred amid high escalation of conflict, where an explosion on the vehicle resulted in the death of TNI soldier Captain Inf Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Staff Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan, and two others were injured: First Lieutenant Inf Sulthan Wirdean Maulana and Private First Class Deni Rianto, who have been evacuated and are receiving medical treatment at St. George Hospital in Beirut, Lebanon,” he said in his statement on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.
