Puan Remembers Final Meeting with Try Sutrisno in 2025
Jakarta – House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani recalled her final meeting with Indonesia’s sixth Vice President Try Sutrisno in 2025, specifically at the DPR/MPR annual session held on 15 August 2025 at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta.
“The last time I met the late Vice President was at the annual session at the DPR last year. I greeted him. And as always, he was warm and humble,” Puan said in her statement on Monday, 2 March 2026.
She regarded Try Sutrisno as a figure who had rendered great service to the nation and state. His passing, therefore, became a source of grief for all Indonesians.
“May his struggle continue to be carried forward by future generations, and may what Vice President Try Sutrisno left behind continue to benefit Indonesia,” Puan said.
“May his deeds and worship ease the late Vice President’s path to His paradise. And may the family he left behind be given strength,” said the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) politician.
Try Sutrisno passed away at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto Hospital in Jakarta at 06:58 WIB at the age of 90. The funeral proceedings were conducted solemnly, attended by numerous state officials, national figures, and the deceased’s family. His burial site is located beside the graves of Pramono Edhie Wibowo and Ani Yudhoyono, and not far from the tombs of Indonesia’s third President Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie and his wife, Hasri Ainun Besari.
