The Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Puan Maharani, was once again appointed to read the text of the Pancaslar Sanctity Day Pledge. The reading was conducted in the presence of President Prabowo Subianto, who served as the inspector of the 2026 Pancasila Sanctity Day commemoration ceremony.

The ceremony took place at the Pancasila Sanctity Monument in the Lubang Buaya area, East Jakarta, on Thursday (1/10). The event was attended by various government officials and leaders of state institutions.

Brigadier General TNI Fitriana Nur Heru Wibawa, Kaskogartap I/Jakarta, served as the Ceremony Officer, while Colonel Mar Edo Sidharta Halilintar acted as the Ceremony Commander. The theme for the 2026 commemoration was ‘Pancasila as the Unifier of the Nation towards a Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia’. During the ceremony, Puan stood alongside the Speaker of the MPR RI, Ahmad Muzani, who read the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution, and the Speaker of the DPR RI, Sultan B. Najamudin, who read the Pancasila text.

Puan delivered the Pledge following the reading of the Pancasila text and the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution, stepping forward to the ceremony rostrum to perform the reading.

“By the grace of God Almighty, we who perform this ceremony fully realise that since the proclamation of the Independence of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia on 17 August 1945, there have actually been many attempts to undermine the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, both from within the country and from abroad,” Puan stated in her remarks on Thursday (1/10/202<0xA0>26).

“That such undermining was made possible due to the negligence and lack of vigilance of the Indonesian people towards activities attempting to overthrow Pancasila as the state ideology,” continued the granddaughter of Indonesia’s Proclamator, Bung Karno.

Making these remarks while reading the Pledge at Lubang Buaya, Puan emphasised the resilience of the Indonesian nation. “That with a spirit of togetherness based on the noble values of the Pancasila ideology, the Indonesian people can continue to strengthen the standing of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,” she added.

“Therefore, before God Almighty, in commemorating Pancasila Sanctity Day, we resolve to continue to maintain and implement the values of Pancasila as a source of strength, upholding truth and justice for the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,” she continued.

Following the reading of the Pledge, Puan signed the document dated 1 October 2026. This marks the sixth consecutive time Puan has been tasked with reading the Pancasila Sanctity Day Pledge.

After the ceremony, Puan accompanied President Prabowo to officially inaugurate and tour the revitalised Pancasila Sanctity Museum in the Lubang Buaya area. The museum, which has existed since 1992, has undergone a total revitalisation and a name change.

Following the renovation, the Pancasila Sanctity Museum now features dioramas that alternate between interactive multimedia technology and written narratives to provide a deeper historical educational experience for visitors. The general public and tourists can begin visiting the new museum displays starting 2 October 2026.

In reflecting on the significance of Pancasila Sanctity Day 2026, Puan noted that the commemoration serves as a momentum to strengthen the responsibility of all elements of the nation in delivering justice.

“Pancasila values must serve as the basis for determining policy priorities, public services, and the resolution of issues affecting the lives of the people,” Puan stated.

Echoing the essence of the Pledge, Puan remarked that all Indonesian citizens are obligated to uphold Pancasila values to strengthen and uphold the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

“Through this pledge, we reaffirm our responsibility to guard Indonesia as our shared home,” explained the first woman to serve as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

According to Puan, Pancasila values can be translated into how the State provides sovereignty, justice, and prosperity for all Indonesian people. “Every citizen needs to be guaranteed the ability to be sovereign, to receive fair treatment, and to achieve prosperity in their homeland,” she concluded.
