Puan Ratifies Labour Protection Law
The House of Representatives (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia has officially ratified the Bill on Labour Protection into Law.
The ratification took place during the DPR RI Plenary Session on Tuesday (6/10/2026). The Speaker of the House, Puan Maharani, requested approval from all factions and members of the council to pass the Bill into Law.
“To all factions, can the Bill on labour protection be passed into Law?” Puan asked during the plenary session.
“Agreed,” replied the members of the council.
Puan then once again sought the approval of all DPR members to ratify the Labour Protection Bill.
“Once again, I ask all members of the council. Can the Bill on labour protection be passed into Law?” Puju asked again.
“Agreed,” the members replied. With this approval, the Labour Protection Bill has officially been enacted as Law.
Previously, the government had submitted the List of Identified Problems (DIM) regarding the Labour Protection Bill to Commission IX of the DPR RI. The Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, stated that the government had reviewed the draft article by article.
Yassierli noted that the Bill encompasses the broader employment ecosystem, from planning to supervision.
“The key points within this Bill are integrated, starting from the planning phase through to supervision, and we greatly appreciate that,” said Yassierli at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Monday (14/9/2026).
“We highly appreciate the draft law. It includes everything from planning to supervision, covering training, placement, industrial relations, supervision, and occupational health and safety (K3),” he added.
The discussion of this Bill has been one of the critical agendas in the formation of new labour regulations. The government previously submitted the DIM as part of the discussion stages with the DPR. The ratification of the Labour Protection Bill into Law now marks the conclusion of the legislative discussion process between the government and the DPR.
