Puan did not sign asset forfeiture bill agreement, Hasto says PDIP's commitment beyond doubt

The agreement letter between the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) and the Pati United Community Alliance (AMPB) regarding the Asset Forfeiture Bill (RUU Perampasan Aset) does not bear the signature of House Speaker Puan Maharani.

Responding to this, PDIP Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto denied that the PDIP faction in the DPR does not support the Asset Forfeiture Bill.

He said he received a report from the PDIP faction in the DPR that Puan was involved in discussions related to the demonstration staged by AMPB.

“The leadership of the DPR is collective and collegial. I received a report from the faction that the response to the demonstration was previously discussed together by Mbak Puan Maharani, Mas Dasco, and other DPR leaders,” Hasto said, as quoted on Saturday, 29 August 2026.

Hasto explained that PDIP is committed to supporting the eradication of corruption. Therefore, the party supports the passage of the Asset Forfeiture Bill.

“The PDIP Central Executive Board has tasked the faction with providing an explanation because the commitment to eradicating corruption is part of PDIP’s political stance,” he explained.

Hasto then touched on PDIP’s existence, one reason for which is its fight against various forms of corruption, collusion, and nepotism (KKN) during the era of Indonesia’s second president, Soeharto.

“So PDIP’s commitment is beyond doubt, including our proactive stance in completing the Asset Forfeiture Bill,” he concluded.
