President Prabowo Subianto is set to attend the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace (BoP) in the United States. House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani stressed that Indonesia’s position must remain grounded in its independent and active foreign policy.

“First, how Indonesia’s position can remain aligned with our independent and active stance, and then the President’s presence there to continue supporting Palestinian independence,” said House Speaker Puan Maharani at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (19/2/2026).

Puan expressed confidence that Prabowo would carry out the independent and active foreign policy and support Palestinian independence.

“I believe the President already has the vision to support and implement our independent and active foreign policy with regard to Palestinian independence,” Puan said.

“His position is already clear, and the President has stated that Indonesia remains committed to its independent and active stance whilst continuing to support Palestinian independence,” she added.

President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Washington DC on Wednesday (18/2). Prabowo is scheduled to attend the inaugural Board of Peace meeting on Thursday (19/2/2026). The President underscored the importance of the meeting for implementing the sustainability of the ceasefire in Gaza.

“As you know, I am here at the invitation of the President of the United States for a very important meeting of the Board of Peace. This is the first official meeting of the council, which was established to address the implementation and sustainability of the ceasefire in Gaza. We are endeavouring to continue forging a path towards a real and lasting solution for the Palestinian issue,” said Prabowo at the Business Summit at the US Chamber of Commerce in Washington DC on Wednesday (18/2/2026) local time.

In addition, Prabowo will also hold a bilateral meeting with President Donald Trump to sign an agreement on reciprocal trade (ART).
