Puan Attends 81st Indonesian Independence Day at Palace, Wearing Modern Kebaya and NTT Fabric

House Speaker Puan Maharani appeared wearing a modern kebaya while attending the 81st Indonesian Independence Day ceremony at the State Palace in Jakarta. Puan paired the kebaya with traditional fabric from East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Observations at the location on Monday (17/8/2026) showed Puan arriving to take part in the 81st Indonesian Independence Day ceremony. Puan was seen wearing a modern white kebaya with NTT fabric.

“(I am wearing) a modern kebaya. This (fabric) is from NTT,” she said.

Also present at the Palace were Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, People’s Consultative Assembly Speaker Ahmad Muzani, Deputy House Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Constitutional Court Chief Justice Suhartoyo and Deputy Chief Justice Saldi Isra, as well as members of the Red and White Cabinet.

Also in attendance were Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), 13th Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, the wife of the 9th Vice President Hamzah Haz, Soraya Hamzah Haz, and Dewi Soekarno.

Indonesian Armed Forces Commander General Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and the Chiefs of Staff of the Army, Navy, and Air Force were also present. In addition, the ceremony was attended by thousands of invited guests.
