Jakarta (ANTARA) - House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani stated that the Asset Forfeiture Bill is still in the stage of receiving meaningful public participation. “The Asset Forfeiture Bill is still in the stage of receiving meaningful input from the public, so that it can strengthen the substance of the law and have strong legitimacy,” Puan said during the Plenary Session for the Opening of the First Session of the 2025-2026 Session Year at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Friday. Puan said the quality of lawmaking is not only measured by the number of laws produced, but also by the benefits felt by the people. She acknowledged that every lawmaking process involves political dynamics, whether between factions, between the DPR and the government, or in articulating the aspirations of community groups. Despite this, the DPR and the government continue to seek common ground to ensure the law affirms the state’s presence and its alignment with the people’s interests. The plenary session also featured a state address by President Prabowo Subianto, who delivered the government’s introduction to the 2026 State Budget Bill along with its financial notes.
