President Prabowo Subianto recently visited PDIP Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri at Teuku Umar to express his condolences following the passing of Guruh Soekarnoputra. Prabowo and Megawati are now scheduled to meet again.

This plan was confirmed by Gerindra Daily Chairperson Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and PDIP Central Executive Board member Puan Maharani. Dasco and Puan noted that the timing of the previous meeting between Prabowo and Megawati was insufficient, necessitating a follow-up session.

“What was discussed yesterday included the fried rice that was never served because it was not yet dinner time,” Dasco told reporters at the DPR in Jakarta on Tuesday (29/9/2026).

“Yes, the timing was awkward,” Puan added.

Dasco stated that the duration of the meeting between Prabowo and Megawati was truncated and mentioned that a follow-up meeting could take place at another time.

“The timing was awkward. Therefore, another time will be arranged to eat fried rice together,” Dasco said.

Dasco noted that the follow-up meeting between Prabowo and Megawati is currently being rescheduled. Puan confirmed that the meeting will take place as soon as possible.

“It is being arranged by Ms Puan,” said Dasco.

“As soon as possible,” Puan remarked.

As previously reported, President Prabowo Subianto visited Megawati Soekarnoputri at her residence on Jalan Teuku Umar, Jakarta, on Monday (28/9). The meeting took place as Prabowo arrived to offer his condolences regarding the passing of Guruh Soekarnoputra.

Prabowo was accompanied by Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Tedy Indra Wijaya. The delegation arrived at Megawati’s residence at approximately 17:45 WIB.

“The President and the delegation intended to offer condolences for the passing of Mr Guruh Soekarnoputra,” said PDIP Central Executive Board member Said Abdullah in a statement on Tuesday (29/9).

Said noted that Prabowo had not had the opportunity to pay his respects in person during the period the body of Guruh was laid in state through to the funeral procession, due to a dense schedule of government and state affairs.

“During the period from when Mr Guruh’s body was laid in state until the funeral procession, the President did not have the opportunity to offer condolences directly due to such a heavy government and state agenda. We fully understand the density of his schedule. Moreover, Mr Guruh’s passing was very sudden, leaving us all in mourning,” he said.

According to Said, the arrival of Prabowo and the delegation aimed to convey deep condolences directly to Megawati. Upon arriving at Jalan Teuku Umar, Prabowo was immediately welcomed by Megawati, who was accompanied by Puan Maharani. Said was also requested to attend the meeting.

“The arrival of the President and the delegation was certainly intended to express deep condolences directly to Mrs Mega, especially as both have been close friends for a long time. When the President arrived at Teuku Umar, he was immediately welcomed by Mrs Mega, accompanied by Ms Puan Maharani, and I was asked to accompany them,” said Said.
