As is known, a number of community and student groups will stage a demonstration in front of the DPR/MPR RI building in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (27/8). At least four groups are set to convey their aspirations with their respective demands. Regarding this, Puan urged members of the public planning to join the protest to maintain order.

“Let us not allow any unrest. It is better that we maintain order and ensure everything proceeds well, so that nothing undesirable happens,” said the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.

As for the intention of demonstration representatives to meet with DPR leaders, Puan stated that the House is open to members of the public who wish to convey their aspirations.

“These days, we, the DPR leadership, along with the leaders of the council’s auxiliary bodies and commissions, take turns meeting with members of the public who wish to hold an audience with us,” Puan explained.

To that end, Puan said it is possible that DPR leaders will meet with the demonstrators at the DPR.

“Yes, DPR leaders can meet with the demonstrators. Even today, DPR leaders also met with representatives of the public who wished to meet,” Puan revealed.

For information, Deputy Speakers of the DPR, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and Saan Mustopa, today held an audience with representatives of honorary teachers who are members of the Forum Advokasi Guru Non-ASN Sekolah Negeri (FAGRI).

Today, DPR RI leaders and Commission VI of the DPR RI also received an audience from employees of PT Pos Indonesia to push for certainty over delayed salary payments. The issue affects around 31,000 employees and 28,000 pensioners of Pos Indonesia.

Not only that, DPR leaders together with representatives of the council’s auxiliary bodies have continued to receive input regarding the Asset Forfeiture Bill. This includes an audience with representatives of the Forum Komunikasi Rakyat Pati on Monday (24/8).

“To this day, Commission III is still receiving input, and all of it will of course be processed according to the proper mechanism,” Puan concluded.
