PU Optimises 10 Thousand Bore Wells to Reach Drought-Prone Areas
The Ministry of Public Works is optimising the use of 10,000 bore wells to reach drought-prone areas. This was stated by the Minister of Public Works, Basuki Hadimuljono, during a working meeting with Commission V of the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Tuesday. Basuki said that the 10,000 bore wells are spread across various regions in Indonesia. The optimisation is carried out to ensure that the bore wells can function properly and provide clean water to the community, especially during the dry season. ‘We will continue to optimise the 10,000 bore wells so that they can truly be utilised by the community, especially in areas that frequently experience drought,’ said Basuki. He added that the Ministry of Public Works is also coordinating with local governments to identify areas most in need of clean water supply. In addition to bore wells, the government is also building other water infrastructure such as reservoirs and retention basins to address the issue of water availability.
