PU Minister Targets Two National Bridges in Bireuen to be Functional by August

Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo is targeting the permanent construction of the Krueng Tingkeum Bridge and Teupin Mane Bridge in Bireuen Regency, Aceh, to be functional by the end of August 2026, and the work process is therefore being accelerated.

"The work is still on track and according to the initial schedule. We hope the weather continues to be supportive so that the work can proceed optimally," said Dody Hanggodo in a statement received in Banda Aceh on Thursday.

Both bridges on the strategic national route connecting Medan and Aceh are important for restoring connectivity, smoothing logistics distribution, and supporting the acceleration of the community’s post-disaster economic recovery. The permanent handling of the two bridges is an effort to improve the reliability of the national road infrastructure in Aceh, while ensuring that transport services for the community return to normal after being affected by the disaster.

"So far, the weather has been favourable. The hope is that the work can be completed more quickly so that connectivity on the main Medan–Aceh route can be optimally restored soon," Dody Hanggodo stated.

For the Krueng Tingkeum bridge, the permanent handling is being carried out through the construction of a bridge duplication spanning 149.7 metres with a contract value of Rp107.5 billion. Through the acceleration of the completion of the two bridges, the Ministry of Public Works has affirmed its commitment through PU 608 to accelerate post-disaster infrastructure rehabilitation and reconstruction so that community connectivity is restored, the distribution of goods runs smoothly, and economic activity increases in the main Aceh - Medan corridor.
