Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo has stated that the Integrated People’s School (Sekolah Rakyat) in Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, is now functional with 246 primary, junior high, and senior high school students, despite construction being only 96 percent complete. “The school is good; although it is not yet 100 percent complete, it can already be used,” said Minister Dody during his inspection of the construction progress in Kupang Regency on Friday. During the working visit, Minister Dody also inspected the football field, which has already been planted with grass so that the children attending the school can play football. The area is also equipped with basketball and volleyball courts. On this occasion, the Minister took the time to greet the 246 students who are already occupying the new building. Dody noted that the school’s capacity can accommodate up to 1,080 people, including teachers and dormitory supervisors. Currently, the total number of students is 346, with 100 students still housed at the temporary People’s School at Centra Effata in Oelamasi, Kupang Regency, while the rest have already moved into the new school. Once the school is 100 percent complete, the children at Centra Effata will be relocated to the newly built facility. Minister Dody is targeting the construction to be finished by August 2026, at which point it will be officially inaugurated. He also expressed his gratitude to the East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government and the Kupang Regency Government for providing an additional two hectares of land to expand the school area.
