PU Minister: Bogor's 'Sekolah Rakyat' ready to become modern education zone
Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo has stated that the Sekolah Rakyat in Bogor Regency, West Java, is ready to become a modern, integrated educational zone. He said the construction of Sekolah Rakyat represents the government’s commitment, through President Prabowo Subianto’s Astacita vision, to expanding access to quality education while serving as a long-term investment in Indonesia’s human resource development. “The construction of Sekolah Rakyat is a tangible form of the government’s commitment to building superior human resources. The Ministry of Public Works wants to ensure this educational facility is built quickly and to a high standard so that it can be immediately utilised by the community and support equitable access to education,” Dody said in Jakarta on Tuesday. The construction of Sekolah Rakyat in Sipak Village, Jasinga District, Bogor Regency, West Java, is being accelerated ahead of the 2026/2027 New Academic Year. Situated on a 6.96-hectare hilly area at an altitude of approximately 161 metres above sea level, the school offers a lush learning environment with panoramic mountain views. Dody explained that the project, built by the Ministry of Public Works, is designed as an integrated educational zone capable of accommodating up to 1,080 students from elementary, junior high, to senior high school levels. Modern facilities have been prepared, including school buildings for each educational level, male and female dormitories, teacher dormitories, a multipurpose hall, a place of worship, a canteen, sports fields, green open spaces, and other integrated supporting facilities. According to Dody, construction is showing significant progress. As of 26 June 2026, the physical progress of the Bogor Sekolah Rakyat has reached 80.21 per cent. Involving 960 workers and reinforced by 25 personnel from the Indonesian Army’s Territorial Development unit, the Ministry of Public Works is targeting the integrated educational zone to begin operating in July 2026, in time to welcome new students for the 2026/2027 academic year. The presence of Sekolah Rakyat Bogor is expected not only to broaden educational access for the community but also to serve as a driver for economic growth and regional development in the Jasinga area, Bogor Regency.
