PTPP's 'Lean Construction' Innovation Becomes International Reference
Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned construction company PT PP (Persero) Tbk (PTPP) presented a study on the implementation of the Lean Construction method at the Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) Twin Tower project at the 34th International Group for Lean Construction conference (IGLC34) in Singapore, as a reference for developing more efficient construction practices.
PTPP Corporate Secretary Joko Raharjo said the company’s participation in the forum, held at the National University of Singapore (NUS), reflects its commitment to driving transformation of the construction industry through the application of Lean Construction.
“The implementation of Lean Construction through the Takt Planning and Control method at the Universitas Diponegoro Twin Tower project demonstrates that the experience and best practices developed by PTPP are capable of improving project productivity while also serving as a relevant reference in international forums,” Joko said in an official statement received in Jakarta on Saturday.
IGLC34 is an international forum that brings together academics, practitioners, and construction industry players from various countries to discuss the development of more efficient, productive, and sustainable construction practices.
The method is part of Lean Construction, a construction management approach focused on improving efficiency by reducing waste, stabilising workflow, and increasing project productivity through a rhythm-based work system.
Through an action research approach — a method that combines direct on-site application with continuous evaluation — the study distinguished the performance improvements achieved during the planning stage from the additional improvements that emerged during execution through the application of takt planning and takt control.
The implementation results showed that takt planning, or work planning based on a structured execution rhythm, was able to shorten the planned project duration while creating a more stable workflow from the start of execution.
