PTPP's 'Lean Construction' Innovation Becomes International Reference

State-owned construction enterprise PT PP (Persero) Tbk (PTPP) has presented a study on the implementation of the Lean Construction method for the Diponegoro University Twin Tower project at the 34th International Group for Lean Construction (IGLC34) conference in Singapore, serving as a reference for developing more efficient construction practices. PTPP Corporate Secretary Joko Raharjo stated that the company’s participation in the forum, held at the National University of Singapore, demonstrates its commitment to driving transformation in the construction industry through the application of Lean Construction. “The implementation of Lean Construction through the Takt Planning and Control method on the Diponegoro University Twin Tower project shows that the experience and best practices developed by PTPP can enhance project productivity while also serving as a relevant reference in an international forum,” Joko said in an official statement received in Jakarta on Saturday. IGLC34 is an international forum that brings together academics, practitioners, and industry players from various countries to discuss the development of more efficient, productive, and sustainable construction practices. The method is part of Lean Construction, a management approach focused on increasing efficiency by reducing waste, stabilising workflow, and boosting project productivity through a rhythm-based work system. Through an action research approach, a method that combines direct field application with continuous evaluation, the study distinguishes the performance improvements generated during the planning stage from the additional improvements that emerged during implementation through the application of takt planning and takt control. The results of the implementation show that takt planning, or work planning based on a structured execution rhythm, can shorten the planned project duration while creating a more stable workflow from the start of execution.
