PTPP records 59.49% progress on Bagong Dam during Vice President's inspection
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT PP (Persero) Tbk (PTPP) has recorded 59.49% progress in the construction of the Bagong Dam Package III in Trenggalek Regency, East Java, during an inspection by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia (Wapres) Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
PTPP Corporate Secretary Joko Raharjo stated that this progress is faster than the planned target of 56.56%. According to him, this achievement results from planning, innovation, and collaboration among stakeholders in the project implementation.
“PTPP is committed to completing the Bagong Dam project on time while prioritising quality, occupational safety, and sustainability,” said Joko in his statement from Jakarta on Saturday.
The dam is expected to benefit the community, particularly in supporting water resilience and enhancing agricultural productivity.
This infrastructure has a storage capacity of 17.4 million cubic metres and is projected to supply irrigation water for 977 hectares of farmland in the Bagong Irrigation Area.
In addition, the dam will provide raw water at 153 litres per second and play a role in flood control in Trenggalek Regency.
The Bagong Dam Package III project, undertaken by PTPP, has a contract value of Rp402.31 billion with a duration of 1,473 calendar days starting from 20 December 2024.
PTPP noted that the project faces technical challenges because the dam construction rests on a colluvial layer, requiring special engineering to maintain structural stability and safety.
To address these challenges, PTPP has implemented construction innovations to enhance work efficiency while upholding occupational safety standards.
During his visit on 30 April 2026, Vice President Gibran emphasised the importance of accelerating the project completion so that the dam’s benefits can be felt soon by the community, especially farmers and residents of Trenggalek.
He also highlighted the importance of synergy between the central government, local government, and all stakeholders to ensure smooth development.
At the site, Gibran gave appreciation to the project team and delivered encouraging messages to the workers.
“Keep up the spirit,” said Gibran.
The Vice President’s visit was also attended by the Deputy Governor of East Java Emil Dardak, Regent of Trenggalek Mochamad Nur Arifin, Deputy Regent of Trenggalek Syah Muhammad Natanegara, and several related officials.
