PTPP: Kataraja Toll Road Section 1 construction reaches 94.9 per cent
“We are optimistic that this project can deliver benefits in improving connectivity and community mobility.”
Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned construction company PT PP (Persero) Tbk (PTPP) reported that construction of the Kataraja Toll Road Section 1 has reached 94.9 per cent, leaving 5.08 per cent of work remaining, with the implementation period running until 14 October 2026.
The construction of Kataraja Toll Road Section 1 is aimed at improving connectivity between Jakarta and Banten, particularly linking the Prof. Dr. Sedyatmo Toll Road in North Jakarta to the Kosambi area in Tangerang Regency.
PTPP Corporate Secretary Joko Raharjo, in an official statement in Jakarta on Tuesday, said the completion of the load test on the Ramp 1 JC Sedyatmo Bridge demonstrates the company’s commitment to completing the Kataraja Toll Road Section 1 on target while prioritising quality, safety and construction reliability.
“We are optimistic that this project can deliver benefits in improving connectivity and community mobility, while supporting logistics activities and regional development in Tangerang and its surrounding areas,” said Joko.
Joko explained that the toll section has been operational since 9 October 2025 for the direction of PIK 2 towards Jakarta and from Soekarno-Hatta Airport towards PIK 2, and received a five-star rating based on the Functional Worthiness Test conducted together with the Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Transportation and the National Police Traffic Corps.
During construction, he said the company applied a number of engineering innovations, including a design review of the balanced cantilever box girder bridge crossing the Kamal River.
Optimising the number of segments from 12 to 7 segments per traveller succeeded in accelerating the erection work by one month faster than the original target.
In addition, on the JC Sedyatmo Bridge, which has a span of more than 100 metres and a minimum radius of around 88 metres, the company applied a Structural Health Monitoring System with more than 100 sensors to support monitoring of structural conditions from the construction phase through to the operational period.
Joko revealed that one of the project’s main challenges lies in the Sedyatmo Junction work situated above the Sedyatmo Toll Road, one of the main access routes to Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
He continued that the limited work area required measured planning and construction implementation while continuing to observe Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) aspects.
As part of the bridge acceptance stages, the Ramp 1 JC Sedyatmo Bridge underwent load testing on 27-29 August 2026 together with the Ministry of Public Works through the Special Bridge and Tunnel Safety Agency (BKJTK).
“The testing was conducted dynamically and statically with various loading schemes in accordance with the Special Bridge Safety Management Guideline Number 13/P/BM/2025,” said Joko.
